It's birthday season again! We had everyone over for dinner at our house last Sunday for GayNell's birthday and then we all went over to GayNell's house last night for a dinner to celebrate Marvin's birthday. Pretty soon it will be mom & Javi's birthday, then you, Aimar, and Maddy. Mom and I went to a Howard Jones concert on Thursday night. You probably don't know Howard Jones but he was one of my favorite artists when I was a freshman and sophomore in high school. On Friday I volunteered to chaperone a field trip for Chance's theater group. We went to Corner Canyon High School in Draper for an all-day theater competition. Each high school presented a one act play between 30 and 45 minutes long. Chance's play was called "the dark road" and was about a female German concentration camp guard being tried for war crimes after World War 2. A reporter was trying to investigate how and why she went from being a nice German girl and somehow tur...

Hi Jon - I've had a fun couple of weeks. I've been interviewing a lot and am getting sort of close with a couple of companies but who knows what will work out.  The week before last I got done with a job interview on Thursday and out of the blue Adam Cordon calls me. He bought 2 spots on a canoeing trip of the Colorado River just south of the Hoover Dam near Las Vegas and his partner bailed on him at the last minute. He gave me 60 minutes to pack my bags and be at the Provo airport where he was going to pick me up in his personal 4 seat plane. The plane goes pretty slowly - only 100 to 130 mph - but you can fly in a straight line instead of on a curvy road so going to Las Vegas only takes about 2 hours. We had a headwind and had to stay above big cities after the sun went down and we needed to dodge some rain clouds as well so it took us more like 3 hours. We flew into Boulder City, Nevada and stayed at the Hoover Dam Hotel overnight. In the morning we tried to chec...

It's been snowing all weekend. Spring? What spring? Sundance got 12 inches over the weekend and currently has a 97 inch base (in March!) so I thought it would be fun to go skiing after CrossFit this morning. I didn't think I'd ski all day but thought maybe 2-3 hours would be fun. Then the strangest thing happened. When I got out of the shower I had this feeling that I shouldn't go skiing today. Shrugging the feeling off, I continued getting dressed and getting my ski gear together. Then when I walked out of my room and between there and the kitchen I got the strongest feeling DO NOT GO SKIING TODAY. It was the weirdest thing. So I didn't go skiing. I have no idea what happened at Sundance today or what might of happened to me at Sundance today and maybe I'll never know. Like most people, I'm not always sure if my feelings come from the spirit or just some kind of internal paranoia but I'd hate to ignore the feeling and then have something bad happen. T...
