Now that school has started, I was looking forward to an entire week with nobody in the house and I could get some computer work done. Mom agreed to serve as a volunteer at Education Week so the house would be extra quiet, at least during the day. But it occurred to me that I have lived in Utah for 24 years in my life and I have always heard amazing things about Education Week at BYU but I had never attended it myself. I thought, I have the money and the time now so why not do it? Better to go and have a terrible time than not go and continue to wonder and regret what it would be like. So I went to classes Tue-Fri and it was really cool. I went to 24 classes in all and some were lame, some were okay, and many were amazing. I'm really glad I went. On Friday night mom and I had a date night at Sundance where we attended the Bluebird cafe concert. They had 3 songwriters who had written 50 #1 country songs between them and had won 3 grammys. It was an amazing concert - I knew all of ...

This week was back to school week. Chance participated in hosting new student orientation and Aimar attended it as a new student. Wednesday was the first day of school and all of our boys came home pretty happy which I took as a good sign. Chance is taking a lot of hard classes and I'm concerned he will quickly become overwhelmed. Aimar only skims documents and doesn't really read them so I had to point out the school supplies he needs to buy, the homework and test expectations, and summer reading assignments that he never knew about. It's going to be really troubling if I have to babysit Aimar through the whole semester in order to keep him on track. Definitely not what I signed up for. On Tuesday Aimar and I went up to Prophet Rock and Vivian Park and we jumped into the river. We have been playing tennis together often and my game seems to be getting worse not better! Tennis is Javier's favorite sport but he says no every time I ask to play with him. On Wednesday ...

Wow I've had a busy week. Last Saturday we picked up our new exchange student Aimar at the airport. He was very friendly and seemed to fit right in with us from the very first moment and now more than a week later I think Aimar fits with our family even better. We gave him the option to go to church with us on Sunday or stay home and he said he wanted to go to church so that was cool. I think the young men and young women must have welcomed him pretty well because he says he wants to go back every week. On Monday we had to register Aimar for school and it took 6 hours no joke. First we went to Timpview and then they sent us to the district office for some paperwork which was never even needed and then we had to go to the health department to get a tuberculosis test done and then back to Timpview to register Aimar and wait in a long line to speak with a counselor about his classes. We were in line at 8am and didn't get done with the counselor until after 2pm but at the end of ...

Hi Jon! Last week was Pioneer Day and we spent the evening at Ashleigh and Nate Baldwin's house watching fireworks in their neighborhood which was pretty fun. Nate recorded some cool drone video footage of the fireworks from above and below. The next day mom and I attended a Foreigner Concert at Usana Ampitheater with Whitesnake as the opening band. I knew Foreigner as a teenager but to be honest they peaked when I was in grade school. Whitesnake, on the other hand, peaked when I was in high school so I knew them better. I didn't care so much about either band but I got tickets just to have a cool date night with mom. And it was really cool. I loved sitting out on the lawn watching the sun go down and just relaxing and talking. I have been travelling a lot this summer so having a night to just hang out and relax with mom and chill to some cool music was exactly what I needed. The next day I left for Jackson Hole for a crazy kayaking trip. I snagged a great camping spot in...
