This week was back to school week. Chance participated in hosting new student orientation and Aimar attended it as a new student. Wednesday was the first day of school and all of our boys came home pretty happy which I took as a good sign. Chance is taking a lot of hard classes and I'm concerned he will quickly become overwhelmed. Aimar only skims documents and doesn't really read them so I had to point out the school supplies he needs to buy, the homework and test expectations, and summer reading assignments that he never knew about. It's going to be really troubling if I have to babysit Aimar through the whole semester in order to keep him on track. Definitely not what I signed up for.
On Tuesday Aimar and I went up to Prophet Rock and Vivian Park and we jumped into the river. We have been playing tennis together often and my game seems to be getting worse not better! Tennis is Javier's favorite sport but he says no every time I ask to play with him.
On Wednesday there was a family dinner at Gaynell's house but I had to stay home because Aimar had so much homework and disclosures we had to work through. We also had to complete a number of online applications for his soccer team which was time consuming. It's hard to have family dinners on school nights because our boys have so much going on that when we go to the dinner it ends up being super rushed or we have to stay up really late to get things done or they just pile up and get postponed to the next day. Camarie and Matt Jones were passing through Utah just coming home from a week in Island Park so that's why the dinner had to be on Wednesday.
Josh and Dawn Poulton are moving from Eagle Mountain to Montana so Mom and I spent most of Thursday helping them pack and clean their house. Maddy is moving out of the Atrium apartments to the Moon apartments so we helped her pack and clean on Friday. This week has been full of moving work! Maddy's case is funny and sad because her new apartment is crappy and very small and her new roommates are terrible. In February she had the choice to stay in the Atrium another year but opted not to sign the contract, but when she got a late start looking for a new apartment there weren't any good choices. Now she knows she should have just signed the contract (as a plan B while working on her plan A) and simply sold her Atrium contract if she found something better. What a painful lesson to have to learn the hard way!
On Friday we had our 1st ever annual ward campout! Todd Thompson convinced Bishop Faux that it would be a good thing to do even most of our ward members are too affluent and "special" to ever want to go camping. We went though and it was really fun. I think there were about 8 families that went - the Thompsons, Ormes, Olsens, Halls, Fauxs, Barnes, Tingeys (surprise!), and Gary Galland (surprise!). We were at the Blackhawk campground near Mt Nebo and I got everyone in our family including Aimar to hammock overnight but then when we were going to bed it got really windy so Mom and Javi wanted to sleep inside the tent. At 1am it started raining hard so that's when Aimar, Chance, and I moved into the tent as well. It was fun to sleep in a tent with the whole family though!
On the spiritual side, I was able to give priesthood blessings to Heidi Pestana and Adylee Manhart this week. Both were great spiritual experiences.
We're getting a new bishopric today and thankfully I'm not part of it! I don't know who is but I'm thinking Todd Thompson and Steve Tingey and Gary Galland make me wonder as well as they came to the campout and normally I wouldn't think they would. So maybe they are part of the bishopric too. We'll see in a few hours.
P.S. The new bishopric is Brent Hall bishop, Todd Thompson 1st counselor, and Adam Olsen 2nd counselor.
