Mom has been out of town all week. She went to her 30 year high school reunion and Kirstie Heaton went with her to tour Washington D.C. I spent my week driving kids to and from school and activities, cooking breakfast and dinner for everyone, and micro-managing Javier's make-up work from missed assignments. It really gave me a new appreciation for how much mom does for our family. Taking care of the kids is a big job. I wake up and make breakfast, get the kids off to school (or drive them), and then go to the gym. After my workout, shower, and breakfast I have about 3-4 hours until everybody comes home from school. When they get home I ask everyone about what homework they have and nag them about missed assignments. Last week I went to Centennial Middle School several days right after school to visit Javier's teachers and get details about his missed assignments and how to do makeup work. It was exhausting. Javi doesn't really seem to understand what's going on or that he has missed assignments. The teacher will tell me very clearly what needs to be done and when I ask Javi about it he acts like all the instructions were in Chinese and he didn't understand.

Last week Grandpa Carr called unexpectedly and said he would be passing through Provo and if we could hang out for a couple of days. I was home so in between my single parent duties we were able to spend some quality time together. We talked all day Thursday about the trip he had taken through Salt River Arizona up through Rocky Mountain State Park in Colorado and then all the way to Mount Rushmore. On Friday we went to see a church movie called Jane & Emma and then we went to see the BYU Spectacular with David Archuletta and Colbie Callait with Rebecca and Arly. It was really nice to spend some time with my dad. I have thought of going to California to see him as I have so much time off but I really haven't taken the opportunity to do it since last February.

Having to work so hard with Javi to get his grades up has made me really thankful for Chance. Chance is taking many AP classes this year and is participating in two plays - one at school and one at Center Stage. He is getting all As in school except for a couple of assignments he cannot make up. He's also taking an ACT prep class and just took a practice exam where he scored a 34 which is amazing. I don't know if he will do that well on the actual exam but he could possibly do even better if he is able to focus. Chance socializes a lot and likes to invite his friend group over to our house for movie night. This week only Macy Gwynn and her friend Heyn came and when I went to the theater room to say goodnight I found all 3 of them all cuddled on a bean bag chair watching a zombie movie called Warm Bodies. I think they are all platonic friends but sometimes it doesn't always look that way.

Chance has been practicing the piano more since we took him out of piano lessons than he did when he was in piano lessons. Lately he has been learning some hymns on the piano which I think is really cool. He says he play the opening song during seminary and this week he played the opening hymn for priesthood opening exercises. It was awesome. Chance also had a choir performance this week that I went to and he did really well.

Yesterday was Fast Sunday and I fasted for your investigators. I hope some of them were able to come to church. I hope everything is going well for you.

Love,

Dad
